I really enjoyed the pacing, the intensity, and it truly had some interesting creature designs and visual effects that gave some pretty good scares. It was everything I had hoped and more, it certainly didn’t disappoint. It felt like it flowed in the same vein as the John Carpenter’s 1982 film as it set the same tone of paranoia and distrust. The events that lead up to the 1982 film are perfectly explained in this one, plus, Mary Elizabeth Winstead…’nuff said.

Apollo 18- 3(3.5?)/5

I’m teetering on this one. I really liked the concept and there’s a lot of visuals and camera work that create an intense atmosphere, but I was a little disappointed when the “life forms” are revealed. There are quite a few memorable scenes and some clever play on lighting that was genuinely creepy, but the purpose of the mission and the overall story felt like an afterthought. The third act felt kind of scrambled as well. As a sci-fi, fake documentary thriller, it does a great job. It’s something to watch if you’re a fan of the genre as it’s certainly not for everybody.

I don’t know, that’s a good question. I’ve seen blogs and tumblrs far more dedicated to Breaking Bad than mine. Though I am a big fan and think that it is currently one of the best shows to air on basic cable in recent memory, but I don’t know about the biggest. Not to say that I am not a HUGE fan, but I suppose somewhere out there, there is someone who is more extreme than I.

2nd Golden Globe nomination for Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad...

2nd Golden Globe nomination for Bryan Cranston in Breaking Bad for a series that’s 4 seasons in, on top of the 3 emmys he has won.

He loses to Kelsey Grammar for his first nomination in the first season of the show “Boss”.

Last year, he lost to Steve Buscemi in Boardwalk Empire which was in it’s first season (Breaking Bad in it’s 3rd). It is a great show in of itself and Steve Buscemi is a great actor, but I felt that Bryan Cranston at least deserved it last year, and even more so this year.

[Critics Choice Movie Awards]

I had all the winners in the announced categories and my own personal input, but I accidentally hit the refresh button and it all went away. So much for that, so i’ll just retype that either later tonight or tomorrow.

My thoughts on it though is that it was overall fair. I wish “The Help” didn’t garner some of the acting awards as I feel that some of the other nominees were more of a stronger choice.

Surprised by Kaminski winning Cinematography for “War Horse”, it was a shame Cronenweth wasn’t nominated for “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo”. Pleasantly surprised for Hazanavicius winning Best Director and Best Picture for “The Artist”. Glad to see Clooney getting Best Actor for “The Descendants” and “Drive” winning Best Action Movie.

2012 seems to be a promising year for films. I’ve seen plenty of trailers looking forward to movies being released in 2012, but two so far have stood out. The trailer for the sci-fi Alien prequel “Prometheus” and “The Dark Knight Rises”. Both are so simple yet so effective, that they take the “less is more” approach. You know absolutely nothing about what is going on or happening, nothing is spoiled or revealed, but instead they actually make you curious about what is happening, that you want to know more.

The soft and subtle tone of TDKR trailer as the national anthem is played as a backdrop, which is in some regard beautifully eerie. Then there is voice over dialogue and character dialogue, with segments of action that keeps you guessing and makes you curious about what you’re seeing. Then there is the Prometheus trailer, which uses real sharp and chaotic, suspenseful sounds that reflect what’s happening in the trailer as the text for the title slowly grows in sync with those sounds. You see segments of sci-fi scenery and action sequences, with characters undergoing various situations, and snippets of horror-esque sequences, reminiscent of what made the Alien movies so unique to begin with. The beauty of trailers like these is that they just pique your interest even more.

Both are so simple yet so effective, and based on the trailers, I can’t wait for either of them to hit the screens.

So I received one of the best things a fan could ever hope for Christmas, an actual piece of equipment used on set of Breaking Bad, S4E10- Salud.

My mom apparently went to some arts and crafts fair and there was a booth with some trunks filled with discarded film tins from sets of shows that this guy managed to obtain. My mom apparently browsed through it casually, walked around some more, went back to it and dug a little deeper and found 2 film tins from Breaking Bad Season 4, Episode 10. One from May 3rd 2011 and May 4th 2011. I received the latter.

Both my brother and I are extreme fans of this show, so we both were lucky enough to own a piece from it.

I verified all the film stock that Michael Slovis and crew uses, and Kodak Vision 3 500T 5219 film stock was one of them. Both my brother and I were overwhelmed by the awesomeness of this unexpected gift.

I know I’m not the only one out there that received BrBa swag, so who else out there received or gave BrBa related swag?

And another similar post. Only because I want to stress the fact that I was so glad to see them become bros again, after the course of such a turbulent season.

…For now though. But I don’t even want to think about that after the way ep 13 ended.

I don’t think Season 5 will disappoint, despite the fact that it’s the last season, which in of itself is disappointing to an extent. Breaking Bad has spoiled me for what TV should be.
